After learning their fate in the Malaysia Cup on Thursday, Football Association of Malaysia announced the full fixtures for the 86th edition of the region’s oldest knock out competition today.
LionsXII are in Group A alongside Selangor PKNS, Johor FC and Fandi Ahmad’s Johor FA. The only Singaporean outfit in the competition will travel to Pasir Gudang for their opening cup campaign on 22 August, Wednesday. Following that, LionsXII will host Selangor PKNS at the Jalan Besar Stadium on 25 August, Saturday.
The reunion of two Singapore’s favorite football sons will take place in Larkin on 28 August, Tuesday when the LionsXII travel just across the causeway to take on Johor FA in the first of what is a double-header.
Singapore football fans can expect a spectacular return for Fandi as the LionsXII play host to Johor FA at the Jalan Besar Stadium four days later (1 September, Saturday).
This is followed by the LionsXII’s visit to Petaling Jaya to face Selangor PKNS on 4 September, Tuesday, before the group stage comes to a close when LionsXII take on Johor FC at the Jalan Besar Stadium on 14 September, Friday.
Only the top two sides from each group go through to the Quarter-Finals of the tournament.
