Faris Ramli learns the Arsenal way

Despite being rule out of action for the next two weeks due to a foot injury, Faris Ramli from the Courts Young Lions, who is also the winner of the Singapore leg of Nike The Chance event, was present at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur to pick up some tips from Arsenal Football Club’s legend Steve Bould as the Gunners arrived in Asia for the pre-season training tour on Monday evening.

As part of the boy’s preparation in the lead up to the Grand Finals of Nike’s The Chance event to be held in Spain next month, Faris was presented with this one in a lifetime opportunity to be guided by the former Arsenal centre defender who made nearly 300 appearances for the Gunners between 1988 and 1999.

Faris watched closely by the side as the two other finalists ((Malaysia and Thailand)) from Nike The Chance grand finals completed the session alongside three other boys under Bould’s guidance. Faris’ injury prevented him from playing any part in that 45-minute session. The Singapore U-23 International is still grateful for the session despite his non involvement during the short session.

“It is very tempting to be part of the session after seeing the other players training under coach (Steve) Bould,” Faris told aXrosstheline.com.

“Although I am not involved in the session, I will make sure that I remember the drills that he taught us and apply it during training back home after I recover from my injury.”

“I am really happy to be here, and this is a totally different kind of experience for me,” he added.

Arsenal FC will take on Malaysia XI on Tuesday evening at the same venue. 60,000 fans from all over the world are expected to fill up the arena in Kuala Lumpur. Kick off time for the game is at 945pm.
