After sitting out the last two Singapore fixtures including a 1-7 defeat on the hands of Iraq earlier this year, Aleksandar Duric is back in the Lions’ set up again. The 41-year old marksman from Tampines Rovers was initially left out of the squad that was named earlier last month by National team coach Radojko Avramovic.
Injuries to Sufian Anuar and Khairul Amri has led to the U-turn by the National selectors as Khairul Nizam will not be cleared to travel with the team up to Shah Alam on Sunday in preparation of the second leg clash.
The Tampines Rovers skipper has 12 goals (eight in the S-League, two in Singapore Cup and two in the AFC Cup) to his name from 19 games in all competitions so far this year.
The 41-year old will join up with the rest of the team on Saturday for training before departing with the team to Shah Alam at 10am on Sunday morning.
