More woes for the Young Lions

Just as the remaining of the players (Khairul Nizam and Fairoz Hasan) complete their ban, more problems surfaced for our Young Lions in terms of their “National Duties” that they have to serve.

As we all know, most of the current players in the Young Lions rooster are either undergoing their National Service, or getting ready to be enlisted. One official spoke to us(myself and one of my mate) earlier when he bumped into us at the coffee shop and broke this piece of news to us.

The new ruling for those players serving their National Service will be only eligible to play for CYL, Home United or SAFFC only after completing one FULL year of their service.

This would mean, the likes of Hariss Harun(Pic below in white) will miss out on football for one full year.

The official said, “Hariss is due for enlistment come end of the year. So he will miss football for ONE year. We’ve players who struggle to come back when he’s out injured for 2 weeks. What is going to happen to happen to the player for the one year?”

The debate will be never ending, although we know that National Service should come first.

As i posted this on my twitter account, one follower on my timeline suggested, “Playing for the National Team isn’t National Service? If sports is taken as part of NS, then we would definitely have a great chance for becoming a sporting nation.”

We are not in the right position to tell the government on what we feel they should do, neither will we be able to advise them on such issues.

All we could do is, hope that there will be an agreement between the Government and the FAS as these boys are the core of the team, that will be participating in International games.

Do feel free to feedback/comment on this if you have views. Cheers.
